At the start of 2025, I was burnt out and in serious need of rest. My Christmas hadn’t gone to plan, I’d decided to leave my job, and my heart was feeling heavy. As I unloaded my thoughts onto paper in a cafe in Barcelona, my soul began to speak to me. After weeks of procrastinating on where to go, 2 fellow heartful cyclists unknowingly helped me make my decision. As the clock turned 11.11am, I’d chosen my destination, and my one way ticket was booked! With less than two hours to get to the airport, I fled the cafe and was on my way… Follow Your Heart Heart route 54 reminded me that you don’t always need a plan. Sometimes the best adventures come when you slow down, go with the flow, and simply follow your heart. Cycle Your Heart Out… Slowly One morning I sat quietly at the hotel buffet, watching cyclists in head-to-toe Lycra fuel up for the day. There was something oddly mesmerising about the scene, and before I knew it, a new poem had begun to gently spin itself into the pages of my journal. The Race A sea of lycra Riding for Speed Miles Hills Admiring the contrast While gazing at my map Purposely pausing Heartfully riding for Love Joy Peace Both a beautiful race Just a different kind of pace Location Mallorca, Spain This wasn’t a planned destination, it was a pull from within. The island welcomed me with its warm sun, hidden coves and beautiful bike paths. It was the perfect mix for reflection and rejuvenation, which was exactly what I needed. Heart Route I had no intention of creating a heart route on this trip, and had arrived with no set agenda. Serendipity however had other plans for me. When I looked at the map of the s’Albufera national park I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was already shaped like a heart! It felt like a sign from the universe, a reminder to follow my heart, both outwardly and inwardly. A reminder to trust the unknown and let my heart lead the way. Length - 12km Route - View the heart map on Strava Cycle Your Heart Out This ride wasn’t about speed or distance. I fully embraced being a Heartful cyclist, riding at my own pace, slowly, mindfully, taking in the beautiful scenery. Each pedal stroke felt like a breath of fresh air, reminding me why slowing down is so powerful, and a gentle reminder to trust life’s unexpected turns. Spread The Love A heartfelt thank you to Sonny and my dear friend Victoria, whose quiet encouragement gave me the nudge I needed to visit Mallorca. Thank you also to my amazing friend Kate, founder of the Do Nada Club, for gifting me this cosy jumper, a gentle reminder to slow down and not feel guilty for simply being. I’m grateful to share the journey with such thoughtful, Heartful cyclists. Leaping into the unknown takes courage, and a whole lot of kindness toward yourself. It’s trusting that your heart knows the way, even when the path ahead feels unclear. This blog post is a gentle reminder that while slowing down may feel scary at first, listening to the quiet whispers of your soul is sometimes exactly what you need to truly find your way.
