This year’s International Women’s Day was truly unforgettable as we transformed the Milton Keynes Millennium Route into a heart-shaped adventure, blending cycling, mindfulness, and community into one soul-nourishing experience. From foraging wildflowers to sunset yoga, keep reading to find more, and learn how to create your own heart route too!... Follow Your Heart For this ride, I wanted to honor the strength and spirit of women everywhere, creating a route that symbolises love, unity, and empowerment. When I told my dear friend Victoria from Moon and Stars Yoga about the route, I was so grateful when she suggested we collaborate! Whether you’re riding to celebrate a cause or simply to reconnect with yourself, let your heart guide you to your next adventure. Inner Ride Question: What has your heart been telling you lately? Location I picked Milton Keynes as it has such a beautiful blend of parks, canals, lakes and peaceful redway paths. When choosing your route, think about a place that brings you joy, whether that’s a local park, a scenic trail, or a new city or place you’ve always wanted to explore. Heart Route Once you’ve chosen your location, it’s time to bring your heart route to life. I love to use a physical map to create my routes, but you can also use mapping apps like Komoot or Strava to plot your path into a heart shape. For this ride, I carefully altered the top of the Milton Keynes Millennium route to form a heart, a symbol of love and unity for all the incredible women in the world! This heart ride was packed with unforgettable moments! Highlights: Our Twin Baby Cyclists - Although their parents' bike had a puncture and couldn’t join us in the end, it was lovely to have some of Victoria’s family there to wave us off at the start of our ride. One of the twins even managed to jump up and straddle my bike! Foraging Fun - Victoria is an expert in foraging and helped us to gather wildflowers and garlic, explaining how we could turn them into a delicious meal. Stonepit Field Picnic - We feasted on wild garlic pesto, stuffed vine leaves, vibrant salads, olives, and more. Yoga and Meditation - Victoria helped us to end the ride perfectly with a little yoga and meditation. Lu even got to enjoy a mini massage from Victoria! Sunset Salsa - A few of us ended the day dancing into the sunset overlooking the beautiful Furzton lake. Sheer Luck - After realising she’d lost her car keys on her way home, Victoria posted in a local group, and miraculously, someone had found them! We even spotted the keys in our photos afterwards... lying next to the dinosaur statue in Peartree Bridge!
