Date: 12th February 2012 Location: Milton Keynes Charity: Solar Aid - with special guest Sean Conway
We were delighted to welcome Sean to Milton Keynes for the bike ride! Despite the cold weather there was a good show of support for Sean, who answered questions about his ambitious feat ahead!
On the 18th February Sean will be setting off from London to attempt to break the world record for cycling solo and unsupported around the world in less than 100 days! He is also aiming to raise £100,000 for Solar Aid - a charity investing in solar power for schools in Africa.
According to Sean "Smoke inhalation from flame based light sources kills more people in Africa than malaria, by providing access to solar energy not only saves lives, but also reduces our global emissions. £6 allows one child or family access to portable solar and for £1000 you can solarise a school."
To support Sean Conway’s world record attempt, visit Cycling the Earth to donate to Solar Aid, Sean’s selected charity. You can also text ‘BIKE91 £10’ to 70070 for a quick and easy donation.
