Date: 15th October Location: Munich, Germany Cause: Highlights of Munich!

The second CYHO of Germany took me and by Munich born friend Thomas on a more city based heart ride than Frankfurt, through beautiful Munich! Starting at the English gardens (one of the largest urban parks in the world) we cycled past beer garden heaven 'Chinese Towers'  to the start of our heart route at the peaceful Hofgarten, where a talented musician was serenading everyone passing by.
We cycled past the Feldherrnhalle, where hundreds of bicycles were parked and tourists where snapping photos. At the Konigsplatz Square many people were sunbathing enjoying the sudden heatwave in the middle of October! The Marienplatz square is the heart of the city, where the stunning Townhall & Frauenkirche lies, they were probably two of my favourite buildings. I could not help but liken the buildings of Munich to Disney land! In fact only 128km from Munich you will find Neuschwanstein Castle, which was in fact the inspiration for Disneyland's famous Castle!

Date: 9th October Location: Frankfurt, Germany Cause: Simon & Katrins engagment!

I decided to do my 1st international CYHO in Frankfurt to celebrate that my lovely brother has just got engaged to his beautiful German girlfriend. What better way to spread the CYHO love, than to start here!
After picking up a bike map in town, my brothers fiancé helped plot out a nice quiet heart route. We hired our bikes in town with an awesome bicycle company called 'Next Bike' and headed over the Eiserner Steg - which I think should be called the 'Love bridge' as the bridge rails are covered in small padlocks all with love messages on! We then followed the scenic river all the way to Steinheim to start our 17 mile (27km) heart route. We passed beautiful churches, funky graffiti, castles, picturesque traditional houses and many many other cyclists!

After completing the top part of our heart route in beautiful Seligenstadt (one of Germanys oldest towns) we asked a local for somewhere nice to eat, they recommended this sweet traditional german restaurant called 'Zur Neewe' and were served by a lovely lady called Elle. The food was 100% traditional german at its best! The second part took us through beautiful green forests and ended our journey in Steinheim, another equally picturesque town!

Frankfurt is a very beautiful city for cycling, with great cycle paths. The green belt takes you on a scenic 70km loop around the city!

Date: Monday 24th Sep 2011 Location: Buckingham Cause: Perfecting the heart!

Congratulations to Brendan Lennon and Jordan Cox for completing a 17.5 miles heart cycle around scenic alpaca filled Buckingham! This is now Jordan´s second CYHO! After doing one around Italy only a few weeks ago he thought he would do another one in order to perfect the heart shape and get his mate in on the fun!

So guys, how did you find it sticking to a heart shaped route?
Always a tad challenging to find 'n map out a heart shape ... but think we managed a pretty decent effort - a beating heart almost with it contracting at the top & bottom chambers!! But yeah the route was quite straight forward to follow.

What was your best part of the cycle? The onlookers, those being the greetings received as cycling by from the array of farm yard animals from sheep to dogs, horses to alpacas.

Hardest challenge in the cycle? Well the route is a wee bit hilly, so those inclines require some effort - but nothing quite like the magnitude of the Italian job!!!

What was your motivation for wanting to do the cycle? Had a great time completing my first heart shaped cycle ride - then spread the word of CYHO and low 'n behold my friend wanted in on the act. Next stop who knows?!

Check out the Buckingham gallery!

Date: Monday 12th September 2011 Location: Tuscany, Italy Cause: Brother love!

Congratulations to brothers Ryan and Jordan Cox from Milton Keynes for their fantastic efforts at completing a heart shape cycle around beautiful Italy! Their journey took them 30.59 miles through stunning Tuscany, covering huge hills reaching as high as 425 metres!

I asked Ryan how they found it trying to stick to the heart route, and was very impressed by his response!

"We both love a challenge, it was pretty tricky to keep to the route plotted on the map, so we
thought we would chuck in a heart ventricle for you!

Cheers guys, fantastic effort! Click here to find out more about Ryan & Jordan in Biker Boys!

Check out their photos in the gallery, loving the kitten photo!

Date: Sat 27th August 2011 Location: Milton Keynes: Cause: Peace One Day

Peace One Day
Thank you to everyone that took part in the Midnight Peace ride! The night was a huge success! We were also joined by a special guest all the way from Berlin, Thomas Barthelmes!

What inspired me to do this ride was Peace One Day! In September 1999 Jeremy Gilley  founded the film project Peace One Day to document his efforts to create an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence. In 2001 this dream finally came true when the United Nations adopted the first ever day of global peace on 21st September!

Please show your support by clicking here to add your name to their petition, and show the world that a true day of global peace is possible in our lifetime.

Every year Peace One Day celebrates this day by holding a special concert. This year Newton Faulkner & Razorlight will be playing on the night, with special guest Jude Law! Tickets are stil available for the concert at the o2 Arena in London on 21st September! Click here to book your tickets!

Date: Saturday 23rd July 2011 Location: Norfolk Cause: East Africa Appeal

I decided last minute to do a heart shape cycle around beautiful Norfolk with my good friend Ryan in order to raise awareness for the terrible drought that has struck eastern Africa.

On Saturday 23rd July we drove to Wells-next-the-Sea and picked up a tourist map. In a few minutes we had plotted a nice easy heart shape route! The cycle took us through beautiful fields & forests and into Holkham, which has one on the most longest stunning beaches I've ever seen in England! The film Shakespeare in Love was even filmed there!

I wanted to also show everyone how simple plotting your own ride can be, and that you don't need to be the best map reader in the world to do one. For those of you who don't feel comfortable fundraising I also wanted to show that by simply expressing the cause you feel passionetly about, you can stil help raise awarness for it and get people donating!

If you would like to help the millions people suffering the devastating drought in East Africa please click here.
